RESUMEN DEL TRABAJO: Monta, instala, modifica y repara tuberías o sistemas de tuberías que transportan agua, vapor, aire u otros líquidos o gases. Puede instalar equipos de calefacción y refrigeración y sistemas de control mecánico. Incluye instaladores de rociadores.

RESPONSABILIDADES LABORALES:
- Cortar, roscar o martillar tuberías de acuerdo con las especificaciones, utilizando herramientas como sierras, sopletes de corte, roscadoras o dobladoras de tubos.
- Trazar planos a escala real de sistemas de tuberías, soportes o equipos relacionados, de acuerdo con los planos.
- Inspeccionar, examinar o probar sistemas o tuberías instalados, utilizando manómetros, pruebas hidrostáticas, observación u otros métodos.
- Planificar el trazado, la instalación o la reparación de sistemas de tuberías, de acuerdo con las especificaciones.
- Fijar tuberías a paredes, estructuras o accesorios, como radiadores o depósitos, utilizando soportes, abrazaderas, herramientas o equipos de soldadura.
- Modificar, limpiar o mantener sistemas de tuberías, unidades, accesorios o máquinas o equipos relacionados, utilizando herramientas manuales o eléctricas.
- Seleccionar tamaños, tipos o materiales relacionados de tuberías, como soportes, colgadores o cilindros hidráulicos, de acuerdo con las especificaciones.
- Ensamblar secciones de tuberías, tubos o accesorios utilizando acoplamientos, abrazaderas, tornillos, pernos, cemento, disolvente plástico, calafateo o equipos de soldadura fuerte o blanda.
- Instalar conjuntos de tuberías, accesorios, válvulas, aparatos como lavavajillas o calentadores de agua, o accesorios como fregaderos o inodoros, utilizando herramientas manuales o eléctricas.
- Instalar controles automáticos para regular sistemas de tuberías.
- Cerrar el paso de vapor, agua u otros gases o líquidos de secciones de tuberías, utilizando llaves de válvula o llaves inglesas.
- Llevar registros de las tareas asignadas.
- Dirigir a los ayudantes dedicados al corte de tuberías, premontaje o instalación de sistemas o componentes de plomería.
- Llenar tuberías o instalaciones de fontanería con agua o aire y observar manómetros para detectar y localizar fugas.
- Mantener o reparar la fontanería sustituyendo arandelas defectuosas, reemplazando o reparando tuberías rotas o abriendo desagües obstruidos.
- Localizar y marcar la posición de instalaciones de tuberías, conexiones, orificios de paso o accesorios en estructuras, utilizando instrumentos de medición como reglas o niveles.
- Revisar planos, códigos de construcción o especificaciones para determinar detalles o procedimientos de trabajo.
- Anclar soportes de acero de las vigas del techo para mantener las tuberías en su sitio.
- Instalar sistemas subterráneos de tuberías pluviales, sanitarias o de agua, extendiendo las tuberías según sea necesario para conectar las instalaciones y la plomería.
- Inspeccionar estructuras para evaluar las necesidades de material o equipo, establecer la secuencia de las instalaciones de tuberías, o para planificar la instalación alrededor de obstrucciones, como el cableado eléctrico.
- Instalar equipos de fontanería ecológicos, como limitadores de caudal para grifos, inodoros de doble descarga o de descarga asistida por presión.
- Cortar aberturas en estructuras para alojar tuberías o accesorios de tuberías, utilizando herramientas manuales o eléctricas.
- Inspeccionar los lugares de trabajo en busca de obstrucciones o agujeros que puedan causar debilidad estructural.
- Instalar accesorios, aparatos o equipos diseñados para reducir el consumo de agua o energía.
- Instalar sistemas de tuberías que soporten sistemas alimentados por energías alternativas, como sistemas geotérmicos de calefacción o refrigeración.
- Soldar tuberías pequeñas o especiales utilizando técnicas, equipos o materiales especializados, como
soldadura asistida por ordenador o fabricación de microchips.
- Manejar bombas motorizadas para extraer agua de arquetas, sótanos o suelos de instalaciones inundados.
- Reparar bombas hidráulicas o neumáticas.
- Reparar o desmontar y sustituir componentes del sistema.
- Seguir las normas y reglamentos de seguridad establecidos y mantener un entorno seguro y limpio.
