Carpenter
Job Summary:
A carpenter is responsible for working with wood and/or concrete to build and repair structures and other items using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools. They also may have to select and source appropriate materials depending on project needs. Their duties include calculating quotes, meeting with clients and creating design plans for remodeling projects.
Responsibilities:
- Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
- Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob and level.
- Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw.
- Assemble and fasten materials to make framework, or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
- Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, flooring and trim, or hardware, using carpenter's hand and power tools.
- Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
- Maintain and perform a good security environment of the work assigned.
- Compliance with corporate policies and safety program.
Requirements
- High school degree or training in vocational schools, preferable.
- Five or more years of experience in construction projects.
- Knowledge of machines, materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction, including their uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Must have and bring his/her own hand & power tools.
- Able to stand and work outside for 8 hour shift.
- Must be a team player.
